We are very excited to announce that the first version of Android is now available in open beta! The app is very simple right now, but we’ll be publishing updates continuously.

The Android app has been built from the ground up, designed for rapid improvement and stability. This new app will also serve as the new iOS app once our Android users are satisfied with the experience.
We’ve released the first version of Android into open beta after internal testing and debugging. We did our best to make the experience as bug free as possible, but the app also must be tested in the wild. Please report any problems or ideas you have to [email protected] so that we can expedite bug fixes and app improvements.
We launched a small but critical update to the iOS app. This update fixed a bug that was causing Mu tag data to be erased from the database. Not good!
We also modified a GPS setting that should improve the battery life of your phone! For those of you that were very frustrated with the battery drain of your phone, we’d love for you to try the latest version and let us know if you notice any improvements.

It’s finally happening. Your Mu tag pledges are being shipped out! ?We are extremely excited to finally be delivering the product after such a long and stressful journey.
Short answer:
You will receive your pledge in about 6 weeks.
Long answer:
Many of you have noticed one or multiple tracking number emails come through. The latest tracking number email is the valid one. Please disregard any previous emails. We had issues with our shipping software which caused this to happen.
All pledges which are being delivered within the USA are currently on their way from China to a distribution center in the USA. From there they will be shipped out to their final destinations. All international pledges are currently being packed at the factory and will ship out to another distribution center in the USA. Then those packages will also be shipped out to their final destinations.
Domestic and international packages should hit their corresponding distribution centers within a week of one another. Once the packages are scanned in at the distribution center, your tracking numbers will update with the full details. This will happen 3-4 weeks from now. Shortly thereafter, all backers should begin to receive their packages around the same time, plus or minus a week.
The first big milestone for Informu has always been to deliver a quality product to all of our backers. Beyond achieving this first milestone, we are building a profitable company that produces products that people LOVE. It’s not enough to have a product that people just like or think is okay. In our minds, the Mu tag should invoke so much excitement that you want to tell everyone how great it is!
We don’t expect to be at this level just yet and we’ll still need your help to get there. We’ll continue to roll out software updates and adapt to the feedback that we receive. So we want to keep hearing from all of you about your experience and any improvements that we can make in the months and years to come.
Hardware was not the only area of the product that brought us major setbacks. We were also devastated when the software development company gave up on the project. Tom was able to painstakingly scrap together a working iOS app from the pieces that were left behind from the development company. However, the resulting iOS app is certainly not feature complete and the Android app left to us by the software development company was considered irrecoverable.
Tom has since been working on the new app, designing it from the ground up with fast change and evolution in mind. The new app will first be introduced on Android and then replace the current iOS app in the near future. The first version of the Android app will be released within the next couple of weeks. It will be a little more basic than the current iOS app, but under rapid development.
We currently consider both iOS and Android apps to be in beta. The new app will replace the iOS app at the point at which it is considered to have equal usability to the current iOS app. With continuous communication and feedback from our backers, we’ll quickly polish the app experience into something amazing!

We are so excited to announce that we’ll be shipping all pledges this month! Manufacturing and Quality Assurance (QA) is running smoothly and should be completed within days. As soon as we ship all pledges we’ll post another announcement.

It’s been a crazy past couple of weeks with more painting challenges and the rush to get everything shipped this month. Lang was able to push the paint factory to work overtime and resolve their mistakes.
With all painting complete, final assembly was able to resume and has been moving along well. Our partner factory has also been working overtime to complete everything by the end of this weekend. Lang is personally overseeing all operations and performing final QA on all 15,000 units.
The Mu tag has been a much greater challenge than we could have imagined. We certainly made many mistakes along the way and also experienced several incidents of misfortune, but giving up was never an option.
